Still haven't seen a price on it. It is the ICOM IC-9700. Opinions expressed are solely those of the author, and do not reflect the official. Just heard about IC-R30, looks like a nifty receiver. How much are we looking at, as far as price? About the same approach as the IC-8600 and this new ICOM radio - for the higher freqs. I knew you'd have an opinion.
Please read before posting Save 'I Just Got Licensed' threads for Wed thread. Welcome to Reddit's own amateur (ham) radio club. If you are wondering what Amateur Radio is about, it's basically a two way radio service where licensed operators throughout the world experiment and communicate with each other on frequencies reserved for license holders. All topics relating to the hobby are welcome here, from purchasing and building equipment, to operating techniques and activities, and everything in between. In the US, new licenses take up two weeks to process. Longer if there is a federal holiday. Varies depending on sponsoring VEC (ARRL, Laurel).

This radio seems to be geared to the VHF/UHF weak signal amateur radio operator. The target user isn't likely going to care much about wide band reception, and in fact, would probably prefer that it didn't have such a feature / bug, depending on your point of view. The target user isn't likely going to care much about wide band receptionThe observation I would make here is that is what the HF transceiver vendors used to think, and now. Now general coverage is a staple feature. Even my old - and it is really old now - Yaesu FT-980 offers general coverage.
So I think the issue will be of interest to some. Basically:When Jane ham tells Joe ham what fun she's having receiving weather satellites or whatever, and Joe realizes that he can't do it with his multi-thousand dollar transceiver. I think the question of what Joe actually wants in his receiver might float back up to the surface. Just my opinion. To which I can add that I personally would definitely not buy an SDR transceiver that didn't do general coverage across its range. That's just one person, of course. But there might be others.
Maybe?:)Of course, the brochure in the link is clear to say Pre-Release information so, the exact specifications we get may be different than what we see here.Yep. Saw that, made note of it.
They may have it and have just not mentioned it (only so much space on two pages), or they may not be willing to talk about it yet for whatever reason. Or, not happening.
